Warner Bros. and DC Comics are overcoming expectations with Shazam! (2019), the seventh movie of the DC Comics Extended Universe.

Look at our TOP 5 best DC Universe movies here.

Directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, 2017), the film is starring by Asher Angel in the role of Billy Batson, a teenager who gains the ability to become an adult superhero, by saying the magic word “Shazam!”, played by Zachary Levi (Thor: Ragnarok, 2017).

With an excellent sense of humor and innovative action sequences, this film shows a facet of the DC Extended Universe that we haven’t seen before, giving a new focus to its films, taking them away from the characteristic darkness of the universe and bringing it closer to the more friendly and colorful style of Marvel Studios, without losing their own identity.

The story of Shazam! is simple, but effective. The film brings us closer to the lives of ordinary citizens in a world inhabited by superheroes, showing us how people relate and adapt to the existence of these powerful beings.

The performances are premium and make us approach a perspective that has never been explored before in the modern superhero genre, making us feel identified with the attitude of the protagonist regarding his new powers. Billy Batson acts as a boy of his age is supposed to act and, as he learns more about his powers, he acquires a greater sense of the responsibility they entail.

In short, Shazam! is a joyful movie. We look forward to its sequel, in which David F. Sandberg will return as director, as well as the film of Black Adam, the archenemy of Shazam, which had been in development even before Shazam! and that will be starred by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
